I cannot understand how it is that very intelligent people can deny that Lyme exists in Canada, or think that it is not all that prevalent.
To the doctors who seem to be in denial:
Do you read the newspaper?
Do you watch the news?
Do you read books? (Examples: Cure Unknown by Pamela Weintraub, Why Can't I Get Better? by Dr. Richard Horowitz?)
Do you know that many U.S. States have laws in place now protecting physicians from sanctions if they decide to treat Lyme disease with long-term antibiotics?
Do you know that Canada now has a Federal Framework for Lyme Disease? This law recently passed its third reading in Senate.
Do you know how many people in Canada flock to the U.S. and pay out-of-pocket for treatment?
Do you realize that these people actually improve their health by following the treatments of so-called Lyme-literate doctors in the U.S.?
Yes, deer don't swim across the Great Lakes. Granted. But do you not realize that it is the birds that are carrying the ticks northward?
Do you know that now TWO members of my family have been affected by Lyme disease? (Myself and my great niece)?
I fear that until Lyme disease affects these doctors PERSONALLY, they will continue to bury their heads in the sand.
Here is how it is affecting us personally.....
My great niece has been suffering with Lyme for a year and a half. Her health is declining rapidly to the point where she is confused and in a wheelchair. After thorough investigation by many, many doctors, they have NO advice to offer. NONE! In desperation, her family has just taken her to a clinic in the southern U.S. where they will stay until she is well enough to come home and continue her healing. The cost is astronomical.
If you would be interested in making a donation to help fund my niece's U.S. Lyme treatment, it would be so appreciated by the family. Please visit this link. We would covet your prayers for Grace's return to health.
